The Gaza Strip has been under a continuous siege for seventeen years, and during this period the Strip has witnessed five consecutive wars, which resulted in the martyrdom of large numbers of civilians, in addition to medical staff and ambulance and emergency teams. The direct targeting of ambulances by the Zionist occupation forces has been a repeated tragedy throughout these years.
On October 7, 2023, a new war broke out on the Gaza Strip, during which the Israeli occupation forces continued to directly target ambulances, their crews, and health sector workers. During this war, more than 130 ambulances were targeted, leading to the martyrdom of 1054 medical personnel and the injury of hundreds more.
The war witnessed widespread and systematic targeting of health facilities, medical teams, and ambulances that were transporting the wounded, in a blatant violation of international laws and conventions. With the end of the war, the number of displaced persons exceeded two million, while the number of martyrs surpassed 70,365, and the number of injured reached more than 171,058, as a result of the Israeli occupation forces' use of internationally prohibited weapons and their direct targeting of civilians in public gatherings, including those under the umbrella of the United Nations.
The project to equip ambulances for the Gaza Strip is a humanitarian initiative aimed at providing fully equipped ambulance vehicles with the latest medical care capabilities, contributing to strengthening the ability to respond quickly to medical emergencies in the Gaza Strip. Given the urgent need for health and emergency services in the area, this project seeks to supply new ambulances equipped with the latest medical equipment from the Arab Republic of Egypt.
These ambulances will include advanced patient care systems, heart monitoring devices, ventilator equipment, and all the necessary medical tools to save lives. The project also aims to provide tangible support to the Ministry of Health and health institutions in the Gaza Strip by replacing and renewing the current ambulance fleet, which would enhance the ability to provide essential healthcare to the injured and the sick.
