The battle in Gaza is no longer limited to survival alone; it has become a silent and unjust struggle fought by kidney failure patients in their veins and exhausted bodies. The complex and tragic medical reality is not merely numbers to be mentioned; it is a reality that cuts the threads of life for the most vulnerable groups. After the Gaza Strip had around 1400 patients receiving dialysis regularly before the crisis, only 600 patients remain today, struggling to survive.
At the heart of this catastrophe, the decline in resources and the extreme pressure on the Hind Al-Daghma Center have forced medical teams to reduce weekly sessions and shorten their duration, which has led to reduced dialysis effectiveness and the accumulation of toxins and fluids in patients’ bodies. This deterioration in health further compounds the general physical and psychological exhaustion and severe strain that the patient experiences after each session, making even the trip to and from the center an additional ordeal beyond human capacity. Under these critical conditions, ensuring regular and safe access for patients to the Hind Al-Daghma Center is the last and only lifeline for them.
We would like to clarify that the current project operating two transport vehicles to serve kidney failure patients receiving regular treatment at the Hind Al-Daghma Center – at Nasser Medical Hospital, will end at the end of this month. With damaged roads, a shortage of public transportation, and rising transport costs due to higher fuel prices, in addition to the patients’ severe physical exhaustion, reaching the hospital has become a complex daily challenge.
The two vehicles are already available and ready, and the only remaining challenge is the lack of the funding needed to operate them regularly and sustainably after the end of this month. Accordingly, the current need is not to purchase new buses, but rather to cover the operating expenses and fuel for the two available transport vehicles and ensure the continuity of their operation without interruption.
We place before you this urgent humanitarian appeal, with great hope in your support to fund the bus operation project for 6 months, so that you may continue your leading role in saving the lives of hundreds of patients, easing their pain, and preserving their dignity.
