Despite the progress Indonesia has made in developing its healthcare services, some rural communities and remote islands still face difficulties accessing treatment due to the distance of medical facilities, shortages of staff and equipment, and uneven distribution of services. Limited household income and the burdens of malnutrition and chronic diseases add to these challenges, while earthquakes and floods create urgent needs for care and relief in affected areas.
Medics works to support poor villages and communities with the least access to healthcare services in Indonesia through mobile clinics and medical screening campaigns, by supporting small hospitals with essential equipment, and through field interventions during disasters; to help detect diseases early, ease patients' suffering, and bring care closer to those in need.
