Medics participates in the International Cooperation Conference 2025 in Indonesia to support Gaza’s health sector

The International Medical Relief Association, Medics, participated in the International Cooperation Conference 2025, which was organized by the Kodoa Indonesia Foundation in the city of Bekasi on 30 January 2025, as part of the Indonesian-Palestinian International Cooperation Forum. The participation came as part of Medics’ efforts to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and mobilize support to restore health services in Gaza, with the participation of charitable and relief organizations and representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, and Yemen.

The conference focused on cooperation in rehabilitating the damaged health facilities in the Strip, and the rehabilitation project of Abu Yusuf al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah was among the most prominent projects presented. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the contribution of the participating institutions to supporting this direction, and to link relief efforts with the needs of recovery and the restoration of medical care for the population.

During the conference, the Medics representative highlighted the challenges facing the health sector in Gaza, and the risks to the lives of patients and the wounded resulting from damaged hospitals and disrupted medical services. He also called for seizing the then-ongoing ceasefire to move toward rehabilitating hospitals, and to encourage institutions and the Indonesian community to contribute to supporting Gaza’s hospitals.

This participation reflects Medics’ approach to building cooperation that links international support with medical needs on the ground. Rehabilitating health facilities is a basic step toward enabling medical personnel to carry out their work, easing the burdens on patients and their families, and providing better opportunities to obtain treatment, especially for groups facing the hardships of displacement and the loss of sources of income.

Medics’ participation in the conference falls within its mission to relieve people and support affected communities, and to enhance the contribution of institutions and partners in supporting health care. Through this presence, the association continues its commitment to expanding cooperation for Gaza, and to working on a response that combines meeting urgent needs with supporting sustainable recovery, in a way that preserves the dignity of patients and those in need and gives them hope for a better life.
